Bushra is a Licensed Social Worker who is skilled in cultivating strong therapeutic relationships with her clients, no matter the age, gender, or ethnicity.  She creates a safe environment for her clients to feel comfortable discussing all matters of mental health while allowing them to be vulnerable and address their personal experiences. She believes that distress is a natural part of the human experience, and so is resiliency, compassion, connection, and joy. In the therapeutic setting, Bushra recognizes the unique experiences each client brings into therapy and develops individualized treatment plans that meet their specific needs. She actively subscribes to a compassionate and collaborative approach as clients discover their strength and perseverance in every experience and situation they reveal. Bushra’s passionate treatment approach facilitates her clients’ path toward achieving mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing.

Through her professional experiences, Bushra has honed her skills by helping clients feel heard and validated.  In addition, she values and relies on teaching life-changing skills and strategies that enable clients to socially connect with others and ultimately find value in their professional and personal roles.  In session, Bushra incorporates various treatment modalities and interventions supporting clients based on their presenting concerns and treatment goals. She utilizes research and evidence-based approaches such as:  Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Psychodynamic Theory. Bushra also engages in Play Therapy with her youngest clients, allowing her to reach into the child’s mind through their expression of emotions and struggles via play.

Bushra has increased her clinical expertise by receiving advanced training to provide the highest level of care to her clients.  She is certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (C-DBT), teaching clients skills to cope with, and change, unhealthy behaviors.  Her use of DBT helps clients understand the various complexities of their emotions and she teaches the techniques needed to help manage them. She is also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, using evidence-based treatments to reduce trauma survivors’ symptoms and speed their healing.  As a member of the National Association of Social Workers, Bushra aligns with the belief that clients should be met with accessibility, specialized knowledge, cultural competence, and community resources.

Through her work as a college advisor, Bushra received the “Living Our Values” award for providing personalized and individualized support to all undergraduate students.  She was a tireless advocate for her students by displaying a genuine desire to promote their success both in and out of the classroom.  Bushra has also presented on various mental health topics and facilitated programming in the schools addressing bullying, depression, anxiety, and self-care.  Her genuinely empathic style is observed in her sessions where she develops strong rapport with her clients which allows them to be open to the process of change.

Bushra is experienced working with diverse populations in non-profit, schools, and clinical settings. She understands that mental health stigma and silence is especially prevalent in communities of color and appreciates the need for more support and engagement with these populations. Her holistic approach is grounded in the understanding that each of her clients come from various experiences, backgrounds and communities, all of which serve a purpose and a need to be recognized. Bushra hopes to empower clients, of all ethnicities, religions, and genders to speak freely of their challenges and recognize the strength in gaining support to fully live their lives. Inspired to assist clients in realizing their truest potential, Bushra instills in her clients the belief that living a joyous, connected, and more fulfilling life, is possible.

In her free time, Bushra enjoys being with family, eating ice cream, shopping at Trader Joe’s, cooking, exercising, and laughing at TikTok videos.

Personal quote:

“Our lives are made up of stories. Some chapters are beautiful, while some can be tragic. As we create our own narrative to the events of our lives, rushing to find some semblance of normalcy, we often become lost, challenged, and overwhelmed. We forget there is beauty and resiliency in not only the events that bring us joy, but also the events that may not. It is an absolute privilege to work with you as we understand your narrative and find ways to adjust those very stories, so you can live a more meaningful, healthier life.”
