After completing his Masters in Clinical Psychology, Mike embarked on gaining diverse professional experiences that increased his value as a psychotherapist.  He has provided therapy for children, teens and adults at the inpatient treatment level for acute and severe mental illness, the juvenile justice center, in-home therapy for developmental and autism spectrum disorders, and private group practice. With over 13 years in the mental health field, Mike strives to help individuals, couples, and families of all ages gain control over their challenges and learn to manage the strain and trauma that currently control their life.

Struggling with life’s challenges is a natural part of being human, and Mike’s compassionate approach aims to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can freely explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors without reservation. He is uniquely skilled at being able to successfully work with individuals of all ages and has special expertise with Anxiety, ADHD, Depression, PTSD, and other life challenges and transitions.  Mike is also passionate about supporting and advocating for individuals with LGBTQ+ concerns. He enjoys working with anyone who believes the art of therapy may be helpful in their life.

Through Mike’s extensive experience working with survivors of trauma, including childhood abuse, accidents, and combat-related trauma, he chose to pursue advanced training as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). His therapeutic approach is rooted in a deep understanding of the mind-body connection and the impact of trauma on both physical and emotional well-being. By utilizing Somatic Experiencing (SE) techniques, he assists clients to gently explore and release the physiological effects of past trauma, while promoting healing, and restoring a sense of wholeness.

Mike also utilizes a combination of research-based therapeutic techniques that meet the unique needs of each individual client. These include (but are not limited to) Humanistic, Psychodynamic Therapy (PDT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Play & Art Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), as well as Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques.  Mike quickly develops rapport with his clients through his calm personality.  He is described as “easy to talk to” and is thoughtful and intentional about his relationship with his clients, allowing them to feel validated and seen throughout their mental health journey.  Driven by a belief in the inherent resilience of every individual, Mike empowers his clients to tap into their natural capacity for healing and growth. He views therapy as a collaborative process, where clients are supported in reconnecting with their inner resources and reclaiming agency over their lives.

In his free time, Mike enjoys hiking, bike riding, rock climbing, playing video games, watching movies, playing drums, and going to concerts.
