Tiana Henderson is passionate about helping others reach their greatest potential regardless of their life stage. Tiana believes everyone has it inside of them to overcome their internal battles and reach their goals with the right guidance and skills. She works with teens, siblings, couples, and families and is committed to helping them discover themselves and their worth as individuals and as part of the family system. Tiana is eager to incorporate her knowledge of family dynamics and their influence on the scripts that shape our lives.
Tiana is disciplined, insightful, intuitive, and tenacious. She has a keen sense of humor, and always knows how to bring a smile to a room. Her strengths lie in her ability to develop trust and rapport with her clients through a holistic and authentic style while utilizing evidence-based theories and approaches. Tiana has experience in diverse settings working with individuals of all ages, such as youth in the school setting, community involvement social justice issues, those struggling with eating disorders (ED), and self-injury.
In her couples and family relationship work, Tiana incorporates Gottman and Emotion Focused Therapy approaches and focuses on de-escalation, restructuring, conflict resolution and strengthening of couples’ relationships and family dynamics. Tiana completed training to be a Prepare and Enrich Facilitator, helping dating, engaged and married couples identify their relationship strengths, gain understanding about the underlying dynamics that influence their communication, and then develop skills to improve their growth areas. She guides couples and families to gain insights and understand their relationships in new ways and discover the why behind their barriers to bring healing and restoration.
Together with her clients, she works toward increasing empathy, communication, mutual respect, and understanding. Tiana utilizes Solution-Focused and Collaborative Therapy approaches to help clients identify clear goals of what they want to be different or improved through treatment. She shares Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills to help clients understand how thoughts affect emotions and behaviors and minimize experiences of distress.
Tiana is committed to cultural competency trauma-informed practices that honor the unique backgrounds and identities of people she meets. She creates a protected space for her clients through empathy and compassion while helping her clients find their authentic selves. Tiana’s mutual goal for all her clients is to equip them with effective strategies that fit their lifestyles so they can overcome the emotional barriers that prevent them from reaching their potential.
In Tiana’s free time, she enjoys caring for her house plants, seeing friends, sipping green tea, shopping, and watching sports with her family.
Personal quote:
“Life was never meant to be easy to navigate, especially alone. We are experts in our own experiences, and realizing the context of our stories is an important part of the process. We must learn to Protect our Peace to succeed in what we want in life.”
