Andrea is a master’s level student in National Louis University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. Having spent much of her life around healthcare, Andrea has developed a strong appreciation for the many ways people experience recovery. She is passionate about supporting people through all stages of that process and recognizes that healing can look different for everyone.
Andrea approaches counseling with warmth, curiosity, and an open mind. She believes counseling works best when clients feel comfortable being themselves and view therapy as a collaborative process. Because clients bring their unique experiences into therapy, she understands mental health within the broader context of a person’s relationships, environment, culture, and physical health. Her goal is to meet clients where they are, understand what matters most to them, and help them recognize their strengths while finding practical, meaningful ways to improve their wellbeing.
Some of Andrea’s clinical concentrations include working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, and major life changes. She enjoys supporting clients who may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about what they want from counseling, but know that something in their lives needs to change. She has a particular interest in working with individuals with acquired disabilities, helping them navigate changes in independence, relationships, identity, daily roles, and future plans with compassion and support.
As a developing clinician, Andrea is eager to gain experience working with clients across a diverse range of ages, cultures, backgrounds, and gender identities. She welcomes the opportunity to support children, teens and adults as they navigate a variety of life challenges. Andrea approaches each client with curiosity, openness, and respect, recognizing the importance of understanding each person’s distinctive experiences, values, and perspectives.
Outside of health care and counseling, Andrea’s previous experience includes work in both legal and nonprofit settings. These experiences helped her see how strongly access to resources, support systems, and life circumstances can affect a person’s well-being. They also shaped her understanding of the importance of advocacy and helping individuals feel heard, supported, and connected to the resources they need.
While she is not working or studying, Andrea enjoys spending time with her horse and two dogs. Being around animals and spending time outdoors are meaningful parts of her life that provide opportunities for connection and balance.
